Unopened

In the morning I’ll wake up

Long before that sunrise

And get ready to go out

In my once a year disguise

A bright, shining smile

Goes well with twinkling eyes

In rooms filled with laughter

Time really flies

I’ll be distracted for a while

And not thinking of you

Of what you might be doing

Or if I’m on your mind too

This feeling falls like snow on Christmas

Then melts with the new year

And I’m ok, I’m strong, I’m happy

Until December, and then I’m here

Sending messages in whispers

To the man on the moon

Saying I love you and I miss you

Praying you get them soon

You’re the gift I’ll always cherish

That’s what you are to me

And I’ll always be that unopened present

Underneath your Christmas tree
